Beach The Heat During Your Stay in Myrtle Beach

Things sure are heating up here in Myrtle Beach and you are bound to need a break from the sun and sand at some point or another. Luckily, the Myrtle Beach area is packed with plenty of places to help you cool off. From thrilling live entertainment to fun museums, you can find just about anything here at the beach. Check out some of our favorite places to beat the heat during your summer stay in North Myrtle Beach:

Experience Magic at Palace Theatre

Gather your group and head down to Palace Theatre for the east coast’s premier magic show, Illusions of Magic. This live show is sure to boggle your mind and keep you on your toes! House magician, Peter Gossamer, entertains the crown with tried and true tricks like “torn and restored” newspaper trick and works into more mind boggling stunts like making his assistant disappear into thin air! The show also features a daring tiger tamer that leads five tigers into impressive tricks and even has them jump through a ring of fire. Next, watch as America’s Got Talent’s Ben Blaque performs daring crossbow feats that will have you on the edge of your seat. He even sets up a careful crossbow sequence where he shoots an apple above his own head while he is blindfolded! The show ends on a high note with a human cannonball stunt. Shows are performed daily throughout the summer, just call (843) 448-9224 for more information.

Make Nautical Friends at Ripley’s Aquarium Ripley's Aquarium

For those who are fans of the famous “Finding Nemo” movie, you might remember the famous line “fish are friends, not food”. Well, if you believe this philosophy then the Ripley’s Aquarium is the place to be! This highly interactive aquarium features a wide array of displays that are sure to capture the attention of everyone in your group, young and old. Meet familiar faces, like friends from Finding Nemo, at Rainbow Rock, an Indo-Pacific coral reef, or learn about common rainforest species, like piranhas and poison dart frogs, at Rio Amazon. The most popular exhibit by far is the Dangerous Reef; step onto a leisurely glidepath and go through an underwater tunnel as you become immersed with thousands of fish. You can expect to see sea turtles, sting rays, sawfish, and even sharks! The Ray Bay is another popular area where guests can hold and interact with sting rays. A trip to the Ripley’s Aquarium is fun for the whole family! Call (843) 734-8888 for more information.

Ice Cream at Maggie Moo’s

Located within the scenic Barefoot Landing complex, Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream and Treatery has been voted “best at the beach” for several seasons, and it’s not hard to figure out why! This creative creamery serves up fresh, signature concoctions that are sure to keep you coming back every summer. Make your own ice cream or frozen yogurt creation with mix-ins like candy, fruit, nuts, cookie dough, marshmallows, and more; you name it, they’ve got it. Or, if you aren’t feeling particularly creative, enjoy one of Maggie’s signature selections like “better batter cake carnival” with birthday cake ice cream, Twix, cookie dough, and chocolate fudge. Feeding a crowd? Try one of the ice cream cakes or ice cream pizzas. That’s right – ice cream pizza! Other frozen treats include milkshakes, sundaes, and their signature Maggie-O’s.

Meet Your Idols at the Wax Museum

The Hollywood Wax Museum is new for the 2014 season but is quickly becoming an area favorite. Though there are plenty of wax museums scattered throughout the country, the Hollywood Wax Museum is the only one that is dedicated to celebrating America’s favorite celebrities. Guests are invited to pose and take pictures with some of Hollywood’s latest and greatest, like Michael Jackson, Julia Rovers, Johnny Cash, Brad Pitt, and Johnny Depp – to name a few. Conveniently located right across the street from Broadway at the Beach, this museum actually features three attractions under one roof. After you visit the wax museum, get lost in Hannah’s Maze of Mirrors and see if you could survive a zombie apocalypse at Outbreak. Tickets can be purchased for one, two, or all three exciting attractions, making it easy to fill an entire afternoon with family fun. Call (843) 444-0091 for more information.
